We recently bought two old city bikes from our neighbor across the street. He is the bike man — the collector of all bikes within a 10 mile radius, living or deceased. I’m not kidding when I say that this guy has actually rented space from another neighbor around the corner from us just to house all the bikes he has. It must be at least 50 of them, from tiny toddler walk-instead-of-peddle bikes (we’re getting one from him really soon for Mack to start learning with) to newer hip mountain bikes to the funky old city bikes like we bought.

And with the arrival of our bikes, which is typical for us, we also started thinking about more extreme things we could do on bikes like a tour around our area…or Germany…or even Europe. Yeah, I know it might sound crazy, but it’s a lovely way to see the countryside and it could be really fun as long as the weather cooperates. But it’s not something we really have time for now, even though we’ve talked about it on and off for years.

So I was over at Carrie’s Busy Nothings, checking out her You Capture contributions, and I scrolled down the page and saw this:

Madsen Cycles Cargo Bikes

…which immediately made me go, “Dang that bike’s phat as hell!” (to quote Malcolm in How High)

Now I have to say that it had been many, many years since I’d been on a bike…and peddling with a child’s seat on the back is not only exhausting but also kinda unnerving since you feel like you could topple over at any moment — but I think that all of us would enjoy a bike like this…and might even fight over who gets to drive it!

And thus you discover the point of all this madness. Madsen, the company who makes this “bitchin’ ride” is giving one of their MADSEN Cargo Bikes away. And although there will probably be tons of people linking up to their site for this contest, I would so love to win. Heck, I’m happy if I win a Snicker’s bar so I would just about pass out if I won a bike worth $1500!!

Anywho, when you pop over to check out this bike, be sure to also go visit their videos about all the cool features of this bike. You can load up to FOUR kids in there (of course it’s got seatbelts) or a ton of cargo. I just think the concept is so cool. And it looks so stable in the videos.
