After the visit to the doctor today, we ventured over to IKEA (yes, twice in one week which is scary to us too) and thought we were going to pick up the DVD shelves and chest of drawers from IKEA. We noticed that everything was about to go up in price with the new catalog and wanted to save about €150. As it turned out, we saved a lot more because we ended up buying absolutely nothing. The chest of drawers we liked for the bedroom doesn’t match the PAX cabinet system in any color. They do have a closet system called HOPEN that matches but it’s only available in a height of 236 cm (about 20 cm more than we have.) And when we looked at the DVD shelves again, we realized they are just a bit too crappy to be paying 50 bucks for them.

Since the prices on everything had already gone up, we decided to not leap on the purchases yet since we’re not really sure what we want anymore. But we did find some recliners that would be awesome in the living room…so we’re trying to decide if we can figure those in somehow instead. We’re basically just going to have draw out the rooms and start over to figure out what we have, what we want from the room in the end and what we’ll need to buy. Then we’ll hopefully find something that fits the bill or we’ll need to start looking for a cheap carpenter. We’re even considering just digitizing all of our DVDs along with the CDs, which would take FOREVER, but would also free up a lot of space. Perhaps we’ll start on that and see just how complex and time consuming that would be.

It was a pretty depressing trip for us, really. We thought we had it all figured out and then once we were in there again it just all looked bad. We’re thinking through a few things now for the bedroom so we’ll let you know what it comes down to.
