Recently I spent a few days in Frankfurt a. Main on a trip to the “west” of Germany. Thankfully my hotel was close to the shores of the river Main which has running paths, uninterrupted by traffic lights for miles, along both sides. In fact, this stretch of asphalt is actually the marathon track for the running portion of the Frankfurt Ironman race every year. Don’t worry though, the Ironmen, and women, run the loop several times. The many bridges leading across the river allow you to customize the length of your run pretty easily.

Frankfurt is one of the few (if not only) German city which has a skyline. This skyline is very much the attraction of this run, so make sure you include a portion of the Sachsenhausen side of the river for some impressive views of the skyline across the river.
