Woof, woof at you my friends!
It’s Wednesday again, and that means another week is half over.
It’s been an exhausting week for me, because I’ve been a bit crazy since I’m in heat. Again. The humans totally love it when I get all nutty like this. Thankfully my most crazy phase (howling in the middle of the night, whimpering at my toys, not eating) only lasts for a few days. Otherwise, I’m certain they’d be thinking about putting me under the knife. Mom told me that the vet even said to her today while she had Princess in for a checkup that I’m not too old to be spayed. But I beg to differ!
But to be honest, I’m actually wanting to tell you about something that made me smile. And as the title of this posts suggests, it’s puppies. Now I have to admit, I have a love/hate relationship with some puppies. I’m usually the alpha dog so I don’t mind putting a pup in his place when he starts gnawing on my ears. But most of the time, puppies are just a lot of fun to play with, even if I don’t chase after them for half-an-hour like I used to.
But not only are we just talking about how cute, soft, adorable and cuddly puppies are (even with puppy breath), but we’re talking a day that totally celebrates puppies and their awesomeness!
National Puppy Day is a day to celebrate the magic and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives. It’s also a day to help save orphaned puppies across the globe and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills, as well as further the mission for a nation of puppy-free pet stores. While National Puppy Day supports responsible breeders, it does encourage prospective families to consider adoption as a first choice.
So if you’re for any reason giving consideration to adopting a puppy, watch this video first….and then just go for it. But only if you’re going to get a Newfie.
No, I’m kidding. Mostly. 🙂
Mom said watching videos of Newfie puppies on YouTube almost makes her forget how evil I was as a puppy…and that I made her cry on our first two days alone. And tore holes in half of her pants…and her hands.
Getting a puppy is a lot of work, she says, and it’s not something that should be taken lightly. A dog is way more responsibility than a cat or something along those lines. They need to be walked daily, fed regularly and played with. And you have to take them for regular checkups, their vet bills are bigger than other pets (especially if they’re big dogs) and it’s a lot like having a small child at home all the time.
But they sure are cute. 🙂
Hope your Wednesday is filled with happiness, success & slobbery puppy kisses (or even adult dog kisses!) 😉
I love this post!! Love the perspective!! My hubby and kids would love for us to get a dog. I’m dragging my heels as I know just how much work they are and who would be doing the work. 🙂
I’ve been writing “as Ayla” for well over a year now (well I started doing it off and on in 2006) but it’s definitely fun to try looking at the world through a dog’s eyes ones in a while. 🙂
Don’t get me wrong — having a dog is great. And a really small dog is much easier to care for than a big one. They are unequaled when it comes to unconditional love and a permanent play buddy. But we thought long and hard about getting a dog before we made that commitment. Pets shouldn’t be looked at as something disposable or that you can just shrug off if you decide it’s too much effort. We figured if we can handle a dog, we can also handle a kid….and it turned out to be true 🙂
Supercute ! Where is Mummy ? She must be a beauty !
