Ayla got to meet a whole other side of hubby’s family today. Unfortunately it could have been under better circumstances since it was due to a death in the family but it was still nice to see everyone. And it was convenient for Ayla because most people were wearing black and not so bothered with her being a bit wet from the rain and probably a bit dirty.
After the funeral, most of the family got together at a restaurant around the corner for lunch. Luckily, Bavaria is very dog friendly and we actually got to take Ayla inside with us. Hubby’s grandmother was instantly in love with her…even though she completely slimed her a few times. His god-daughter also seemed to fall in love with her over the evening. She’s actually allergic to dogs but thankfully if she doesn’t touch her face and washes her hands after touching dogs, she can still love on them.
Ayla completely behaved herself and sort of got her first taste at being a therapy dog, something we’d love to try with her in the future. She would get a little crazy at times with all the people and attention and did kind of chew on us and others a little. But we were really happy to see that she didn’t mouth the kids at all. As usual, she knows when it’s really important to behave herself. Well mostly anyway. She did manage to flood the floor around her with just a few paw splashes and then slept in it for a while so she was nice and damp. And then she wanted to share my drink with me. I was drinking a mixture of Weissbier and Sprite which is called a Russ. Ayla was having one of her frappy phases and hubbers was holding her leash while I was drinking my beer. Neither of us was really paying much attention to her and I guess that was our mistake. She jumped up on me and managed to completely drench me with my drink. Maybe it was another one of her clown moments in an attempt to lighten the mood. I guess might have been mad about it under different circumstances but it was warm in there so I didn’t really mind all that much. I certainly could have gone without the moment but it probably could have been worse.
Thankfully on the way home she slept during the whole 5 hour trip. Tomorrow we have some errands to run so hopefully she will behave herself and we can play with her a bit at the farm so she will relax at home on her own.
