We’ve had temperatures in the 80s and will approach 90 degrees F tomorrow (31 degrees C) which doesn’t seem that terrible unless you’re wearing a massive, black fur coat. Thankfully it’s still quite cool in the mornings when we go for a walk but the afternoons and evenings are very warm. I’ve actually started carrying a 1.5 liter bottle of water with us everywhere which is half-frozen so it stays very cold but there is still plenty of water for her to drink in case it’s not melting very quickly. She’s actually getting quite good at drinking from the bottle since I don’t bring a bowl on the walks…

I also recently found another great way to keep Ayla cool and I’m currently feeding her about two of these day. It’s not a new idea, really…just a new container for it. I have a couple of inexpensive little containers from IKEA that are about the size of a bar of soap inside. I’ve never used them for anything in the kitchen but now I fill these with water and then put a bit of chicken or beef broth mix in there to give it some pep for the doggo. I used to use an old Cool Whip container filled with water but this was actually a bit too large and Ayla would lose interest in it before she finished it. Which left me either packing it back in the container and sticking it back in the fridge (kinda gross) or just starting over again. Now I can pop the ice out, give it to her outside, then refill the container, cover it and put it right back into the freezer for later. I’ve got two going now but will likely bump it up to 4 soon. Thank goodness they are small and stackable with the lids on!

Hope you’re all getting some great weather where ever you are and that your pets are staying cool and happy!
