Our plans for Monday were quite simple. Or so we thought. The plan was to head to the Red Bull FlugTag in Mainz (the event where people bring their homemade flying devices with them so they can be launched off a platform in the water and one gets to test if they catch any air whatsoever or just crash down miserably).
As you might imagine, I *thought* I was going to get some great shots of all that chaos and fun for You Capture (where the topic this week was “moving”). But once we got close to the event, we heard that it had been closed off because they’d reached full capacity. So the trip was basically for nothing. I may or may not go into a rant about the horrible organization of that event later on…
Anywho, instead of letting it ruin our day, we turned those lemons into lemonade and we did discover this really cool “toy” at one of the areas along the river there. It’s 9 metal tiles which will play something like bells or a piano string when you step on the tiles. I totally want one outside our home in Berlin.
What I thought was really interesting was the fact that you can play these tiles in any order or with multiple people on there, and it never makes you feel like your head will explode. All of the chimes it plays harmonized well with one another. And we sat there at least 30 minutes while Mack just jumped around on it.
It was really quite cool and we had a lot of fun playing it. So despite the fact that things didn’t go like we thought they would, it was still a fun afternoon.
