We just had a surprise visit from the non-fur mommy of one of Ayla’s brothers. His official name is Arthur (had to start with an “A” of course) but they call him Paul. He lives at home with another Newfie who is a couple of years old and they have friends that are breeders with 24 Newfs living at home! I can’t even imagine having 4 at once…not to mention 24!! Sheesh. I hope they have a BIG property and lots of room for them to roam when they’re blowing coat. Maybe they’ve even figured out something useful to do with the hair. ๐
As it turns out, Paul and his family now live about 10 minutes from us since we moved to the farm. His non-fur mommy actually drives by our house at least twice a day and she has seen Ayla outside and wondered where she came from. Ah, the obsessive nature of a Newfie mommy ๐ She finally talked to our breeder, Markus, and found out who we are and that we have a relative of Paul’s. Since we’ve actually met by accident once before when we were visiting Ayla when she was still just a puppy, she just dropped by to say hi and visit with Ayla a bit.
Naturally Ayla had to jump on her and make a wild impression but she was saying that Paul and Ayla share several traits such as not wanting to give the ball after bringing it to you, sleeping most of the afternoon and not allowing non-fur parents to hold a conversation with anyone if the doggo is present (and the latter has earned him obedience training for his trouble lol). And at least Paul’s mommy remembered that Ayla was always the most energetic one so she wasn’t totally caught off guard by her antics.
We agreed to go some email exchanging and will be trying to get together in the future for some Newfie playtime. And since they are so close, the next time the breeders want to come visit, we can just have a massive Newfie jamboree!!!
What luck, you can get together for play dates!
