Take a look behind your desk….
Is is a jumbled mess of cords, cables and dog fur?
No? Oh. I guess that’s just at our place. 😉
I have never really found a way that ideally manages cord chaos in our lives although I have tried here and there over the years. For example, a few years ago I created tags for our home entertainment system by using some paper and tape. I put a tag where the cord plugged in to the stereo amp and I think I even put one on the other end of the stereo cable across the room, just for good measure. If I had been really crazy about it, I might have used different colors for different components or for each end of the cable…but I just kept it simple and it worked quite well, especially whenever we needed to unplug something or move it. But it wasn’t exactly my prettiest masterpiece.
Cord chaos is not your friend, and it has been known to lead to some rather unpleasant moments in our house. Once a computer which was being worked on to compile a big project was accidentally unplugged while we were looking for space to plug something else in. To say our power strips run at max capacity here would be an understatement. And while the method of gently tugging a cord on top of the desk to determine where it’s running below the desk does work most of the time, it’s certainly not very cool looking and takes more time than necessary to get the job done.
That’s why I’m really looking forward to introducing you to Dotz and their very cool CordIdentifiers, Cord Straps and CordWraps. They are seriously some of the most bright and colorful organization tools I’ve seen in a while, and I am seriously in love with these little things. Just snap a CordIdentifier on to cords and cables, and you never have to worry about figuring out what cable belongs to what ever again. They even come with a bunch of pre-printed icon inserts (and blank ones for you to create your own) for all you most common office and kitchen equipment.
You have to know that the Monica-like OCD person inside of me is just swooning over these ingenious little organizing tools. Seriously.
Not only do they have the cool little identifier Dotz, but there are also CordStraps which will let you bundle several cords together at once (say if they’re running from your computer monitors, keyword and so on) down to the back of your computer. Or maybe you can see yourself using them in your garage, workshop or bathroom.
As if that wasn’t enough fun already, there are also Dotz CordWraps which allows you to reign in those cords that are simply too long for practical use and get tangled up on your desk. They are also fantastic for traveling, keeping the cables you travel with from turning into a ball of madness by the time you arrive. Simply open the wrap and wind the desired amount of cord around the easily accessible hooks then snap it shut! Clip it in your favorite bag or stick it on a desk or counter to keep it stationary. Could it be any more simple?
I’ve been seeing Dotz around online for the last few months and I am just completely smitten by them. So I’m really excited to be working with them during the Refueling Power Moms Giveaway, starting this Thursday (October 6th at noon EST). Two Dotz Combo Packs will be up for grabs, which includes all sorts of very cool cord organizing goodness:

I will join the giveaway JUST for the cord straps.. The rest is awesome too, but pales in comparison 🙂
