The name of the game this week is colorful. When you’ve got kids at home, I think this assignment becomes a bit easier. Because honestly, my wardrobe and things around our house are not so full of color. But everything that Mack has is color galore. And I think it’s quite important that we find a way to not only bring color into our lives, not only with pretty things that are bright and bold, but with our actions too.

Mel Brooks once said, “If you’re quiet, you’re not living. You’ve got to be noisy and colorful and lively.”

It made me think quite a bit. And there’s a lot we can learn from kids when it comes to be noisy, colorful and lively…

If we’re just living our lives, doing the usual day-to-day stuff, stuck in the mundane…is that really a life? Shouldn’t you be filling your days by doing activities and a job you love? Okay, maybe you don’t have to love every single second of every day — because let’s face it, there’s just some not so fun stuff that has to be taken care of as well. But if your life is 90% yuck and only 10% awesome, you are not really living life.

Now don’t get me wrong; I know you can’t just sit around all day doing nothing because it seems like fun. I’m pretty sure that in no time, you’ll be sick of that as well and screaming to do anything that involves getting out of the house. You’ve got to find the balance that allows you to hold a job that you love (whether it’s working for someone else or following dreams to do your own thing), helps keep your mind stimulated, your body active, your love life flourishing and money coming in the door. Should be easy enough, right? πŸ˜‰

photo challenge

So many times in life, we settle into the comfortable and forget to challenge ourselves on a regular basis. Let yourself be a kid again, get on the floor and roll around, make a mess and don’t worry about the cleanup until later, dance in the warm summer rain, play freeze tag with your kids…

Whatever it is you do, remember to live each life in the moment, focus on the now and note the baby steps are required to get where you’re going so you can make the journey more fun along the way.
