Ok, perhaps that headline is a little cheesy…but every time we talk to someone or think about our accident, we truly still feel blessed to be walking this earth. And although my serial rib fracture is still painful and my arm is still broken, all of us survived and we couldn’t be happier about that. I guess in some ways, this accident was a wake up call for us to finally get some of our plans on the road for our personal businesses and start finding a way to truly live out our dreams. But I’ll babble on more about that when I have more details to share.
I was recently contacted by CSNStores about doing a giveaway. And although I don’t have much to write about here on the homestead lately, you’re sure to have lots going on. So here’s a chance for you to score a $60 gift certificate which can be used at any of over 200 CSN Stores. Seriously, whatever you need — they’ve got it. From dog beds to grills to dining room sets.
If you’d like to enter the contest for this $60 gift certificate, all you need to do is leave a comment below telling me about what you’re doing this summer. Whether you’re taking care of your kids while they’re on break, tending your new garden or working on making the world a better place, I want to know about it!
And, in case you’re feeling like you’re down on your luck, every person who enters and also “likes” No Ordinary Homestead on Facebook will be entered into the contest TWICE (including those who have been fans before the contest)! You can also enter there if you prefer by leaving a comment on the wall. 🙂
I’ll put all the names into a hat (literally) and have a drawing at the end of the week. The contest will end at on Friday, July 3rd at 6pm EST…and the winner will be announced Saturday morning.
Good luck!!
P.S. This contest is only good in the U.S. and Canada…but have no fear, I’ll have a really fun worldwide giveaway coming up very soon!
Hmmm. This summer we are trying to landscape the back yard. It’s hard having smokey around though. He seems to want to dig up everything we do :). I guess between all star baseball games, working, picking up kids, we’ll be heading to the pool! Since alex decided that he likes the pool!
My summer is probably boring by most standards, but fun for me. We’re moving into our first house, a slightly dilapidated fixer-upper. We’re bringing our cat with us, and she’s used to hanging out in our fenced-in back yard in our rental house. We’re not sure how she’ll do in our new house (which doesn’t have a fence), so in our free time we’re trying to teach her how to walk on a leash. No success to report yet, but we’ll keep plugging away. Have a great summer!
Hi Tiffany,
I’m a mom of 4 and don’t usually read to many blogs, (a lot going on around here…). In fact I follow two, yours and my girlfriends. I have to say I really like the way you write. I’m TRYING to start a blog too. Well, actually I did start a blog but I haven’t wrote much in it yet.
Here’s my address; http://sunkissedherbal.blogspot.com/
Sometimes I think I have too many balls in the air to be effective at all I do. But for this summer I’m allowing my self to have fun and PLAY with the kids, garden and… get my oldest ready for college! AHHHG! I wish I could turn back time, but I know she is so excited and ready to test her beautiful wings.
Thanks for the opportunity for winning a fun prize!

This summer we have our first garden. I found your blog a while back when I was trying to find a homemade fungicide recipe. I read an article you wrote and followed the link here. I’ve been a subscriber since then.
We are doing alot of reading, and trying to put as much food as we can in the freezer for the winter when our garden is gone. Today I made (and froze) two batches of tomato basil pesto to give us a taste of the garden when it’s cold and dreary.
Tiffany,
Congrats to the young German who won the Formula One race in Spain for Red Bull, and your win over England in soccer. !!!!!!Stefan is quite a writer !!
my daughter is taking swim lessons so we are at the pool a lot
Well I’m not even in the running since I live in New Zealand ( but I’m from the US and Canada – does that count?).
This WINTER (yes it is winter here) I am expanding my ‘solar system’. I am making my solar PV installation more permanent after my successful trials and expanding my number of panels from 1-5 (for a measly total of 450W) and installing so it can power my home office hopefully 5 days a week instead of the just 1 day/week.
Next is the completion of my home brew solar hot water controller and then the installation of the solar hot water collector in time to collect the heat from the sun in the coming summer. The solar collector is a standard copper collector powered by a DC pump (powered by the solar of course).
I’m going to be busy canning and dehydrating and stocking up for winter. I’ll also be making things for grandchildren and sewing me some clothes. My parents are coming for a visit. Throw in a some day trips, and life is good. I also hear my spinning wheels calling me.
I don’t have any plans this summer. Just chilling out at home 🙂
I also “like” No Ordinary Homestead on Facebook.
I plan to spend a lot of time outside and walking along the creek.
BBQs! Lots and lots of them. And ice cream too.
Enjoying my little Urban Farm! Raising my kids, chickens & growing my garden. Loven’ life!
I will be hanging out with my kids this summer. We plan on spending lots of time at the park and pool. We will also be road tripping around a bit.

Hi, this summer we are water training with a group of friends in northern California, installing a new dog-friendly landscape in our front yard, attempting to grow vegetables, and nursing a Newfie with kidney disease. You can see the progress of it all at http://www.newfandhound.typepad.com
Hope you are feeling better each day and your summer ends on a better note!

I plan to write on my novel when I’m not working and hanging with family. In the mean time I hope to clear out my basement so I can create an indoor aquaponic system – more ambitious than the windowfarms I created in my girls’ bedrooms (they aren’t young, so I can put fishtanks at bed level in their rooms).
Here’s a youtube for the most recent update:

So glad you all survived the accident!
This summer I’m going to a wedding — my cousin in NJ is marrying. Fun! NJ in August! It’s unbelievably hot, really wet, humid as all get-out, and filled with relatives. I bet I’ve got you jealous already.
