Because we’re living in Germany, getting mail from America is not always as easy or quick as it may seem. We decided several years ago that having a box at a mail forwarding company would be a very wise choice, even though it can get costly. But when we have the urge to order something from the US and don’t want to burden someone else with sending it to us, it works fantastically.
Yesterday my box of mail arrived and it was kinda like Christmas here. You have no idea how fun it was going through this box…partially because I’d totally forgotten what half of the stuff was. Pretty much everything in here I’ve gotten because I’m reviewing it, because I entered a contest or because of other blogger connections. So here’s 10 things I got in the mail yesterday:
-
Navigating the Land of If by Melissa Ford
I am putting together a week of infertility awareness here on NOH at the end of April and I am absolutely thrilled to have gotten a copy of this book to review (as well as one to giveaway!!) I already started reading it and I almost couldn’t put it down. So easy to read and packed with information. The blogging event is something I know I will talk more about in the future, but I think this is a cause that more of us should be understanding of (even if we don’t have problems ourselves), considering that 1 in 7 people deal with some sort of fertility issues. If you’d like to contribute during the blogging event, please send me an email at tiffany at noordinaryhomestead.com

The No-Cry Separation Anxiety Solution by Elizabeth Pantley
I have had this book in my mailbox for far longer than I am going to admit. But I’m hoping to pick up a few tricks for the future…and maybe it will teach me to have less seperation anxiety about leaving Mack with someone else and for when she starts pre-school in a few months! You can expect a review coming soon!
-
Neatnix Stuff Bucket
Such a cool little organizing tool! Ours is black with white swirls but I think this is going to come in very handy around here and I love how sturdy it feels. I think Mack’s art supplies may have found their new forever home!
-
The Fracture
If you haven’t heard of Fracture’s cool new technique of printing photos directly on glass, you have got to go check them out. Simple, elegant and well priced, I can see more of these in our future!
-
Reisenthel wine bag won from sjunkie.com
This is one of several contests I entered around Christmas because it seemed like the entire world was giving stuff away. If you like contests, be sure to check out Sjunkie — she’s got A LOT going on over there!!
-
Silver Newfie necklace from Kanweienea Kreations
Another of my contest winnings from a fellow Newfie owner. I totally did not anticipate winning this so when the email came to ask where it should be sent, I was pretty blown away. They make some nice custom printed stuff if you’d like shirts, cups, etc with your pet on them.
-
University of Miami alumni mags
These are always fun because you never really know who or what may pop up in them. We talk about our days at UM very fondly…so it’s nice to know that our alma mater is still going strong!
-
Updated versions of my credit cards
We try not to use them…but when you need them, it sure is nice to know that they’re not expired ๐
-
Bank statements
What a serious waste of resources! I have got to see if I can get on a paperless statement list. Everything I need to know I look up online. And this stuff I only end up filing away never to look at again!
-
Packing peanuts!
Ok, these are more exciting for Mack than they are for me…but I’m always happy to get free packing materials. We have a long list of stuff for ebay that will have to be boxed up and shipped eventually so they will come in handy!!
And aside from that fun box, I also got my new kiddy stroller!! I’m telling you, this has been a great week of mail already!!
What are the best and worst things you’ve gotten in the mail lately?
I enjoy reading your stuff, so funny. I have had an interesting mail box lately too.

We don’t get bank statements anymore I chose the online version. It is WONDERFUL! LOL
PS – I am jealous about the WEBMU, would love to be in that situation. ๐
I would love to raid your magazine collection. I got an issue of Hobby Farm from a friend once. SO fascinating to read!! I’m a big fan of Mother Earth News too. And I’m almost glad we can’t get seed catalogs over here because I would surely be *forced* to buy new seeds…and we already have tons of them still from last year!!
