Woof, woof, ya’ll!

In case you don’t know, “Woof” is sort of like the dog’s version of “aloha” in Hawaii. So when we start barking at you, we might be saying “hello”, “good-bye”…or just “come play with me NOW!”

The weather this week has been for the ducks…literally. It’s been raining and drizzling all week. And when it rains, I don’t want to do a darn thing. You’ve probably heard me mention this before, and it might surprise you since Newfies are supposed to be water dogs, but when the grass is all wet and I get my paws and nether regions damp when I go do my business, I really become unhappy. It’s just not proper.

Mom is also not a big fan of the rain and if it’s really coming down, she’ll refuse to take me for a walk until it subsides. I’m personally okay with this, because once my fur gets watered down, it gets H-E-A-V-Y! And I really don’t like to take on that sort of extra baggage.

Plus it totally messes with my sniffing ability and moves all my pee-mail messages to strange places. Absolutely unacceptable.

Plus it’s staying dark til like 7:30 am now…which means I have no desire to move at all until about 10am. Which seems to be fine with Mackenzie who is also making use of the longer nights. Not that she would notice since she has the shutters closed in her room every night and it’s pitch black in her room. But when the two of us make a pact, we both stick to it. More sleep is a good thing!

But I hear that the weather is supposed to get a bit drier this weekend. Which may be both good and bad. Because the Oma & Opa are coming to visit. The word on the street is that mom and dad are leaving us for 1 1/2 days all alone with them and I can only hope that they don’t try to walk me to the moon and back. I always have to be on my best behavior when they’re here…and I often get a bath before they visit. It’s just so gross to not smell like a stinky dog. Dogs are supposed to smell funky, don’t you know?

Have you had any first signs of fall where you are? Any leave starting to change or the weather getting cooler? I can’t wait until it gets really cold again…those days when my fur freezes in icicles down the backs of my paws are magical!

Woof at you again soon!

Ayla
