- glass ayla myspace
I’m not sure what that means. But Ayla does have a MySpace page. I don’t think there are any mentions to glass though…maybe it has something to do with the band? - keeping Newfoundlands from playing in water dish
π Good luck with that. When Ayla was just a few weeks old her brothers would actually sleep with their heads on the water bowl at time. Sometimes their little heads would just drop into the bowl and they would start blowing bubbles. I’m surprised none of them drowned. One thing you can try to prevent water from ending up everywhere is to get a spill-proof bowl like the Buddy Bowl. We have never had one of these but I hear good things. You can also just get a raised stand which has generally kept Ayla from playing in her water bowls. If they are on the ground she is still very likely to put her paw in it before she will drink from it. And once the water is on the ground she lays in it.
They are water dogs and they just love it. It’s just something that should be accepted and understood about Newfoundlands. If you can’t stand the thought of having water dripped all over your floor after every drinking session that you dog has then you don’t want a Newf. We’re not talking just drops here, it’s more like a cup of water splashed around. The water just pours from their mouths when they finish drinking and they never stand over the bowl until the dripping stops. We have also had instances when Ayla accidentally knocked over the raised bowls. It is bound to happen at some point. Thankfully our dog bowls are always located on tile floors and water dries eventually. You just need to be sure that you don’t step in it with socks on or that you and/or the dog don’t go sliding across the floor if you hit it.
- indian name ayla
The spelling of Ayla with a “y” is only Turkish. It is also a variation of the Hebrew Eyla. There was a dynasty of kings in ancient India called Alias. Pururavas was the most famous Alia king. Learn more at wikipedia. - “susan garett” agility
Susan Garrett is a master of agility training. She has won 14 National Agility Championships, numerous obedience High In Trials and has been a member of multiple world record holding flyball teams. She also has dog training camp called Say Yes.She created something called Crate Games which helps humans train their dogs to love and enjoy being in their crate. We started working on crate appreciation with Ayla but no longer use her crate here in this house since we don’t really have a space for it. - “small female newf”
Well we haven’t weighed Ayla lately but she is a somewhat small Newf. She will probably hold at about 110 pounds (50 kilos) and probably won’t move too far from that figure. Her mother is around 120 pounds (55 kilos) which is the weight we were hoping for her to achieve. But she has always been the smallest and was the runt of the litter. She is also the most active of the litter and always has been. Her sister is a Landseer and she is at least the same size of her mother if not larger. Here are the weights of Ayla as she grew up. I wanted to have her weighed at the vet a few weeks ago but they didn’t have a scale in our room so I forgot about it.
We have raisied water bowls and when we get sloppy and mom does get a sock wet we do hear about it!
Love ya lots,
Maggie
Hi Ayla,
It’s funny I have a hooman niece named Ayla. She was named after Alya in the Clan of the Cave Bear.
Licks,
Nugget
lol I can imagine she is not too thrilled at all, Maggie. My mom was complaining about stepping in some water yesterday from an ice cube I left on the floor to melt. So before she could clean it up I just went over and laid on it. Problem solved!!
Hey Nugget! Another Ayla – that is very cool. When you see her you can think of me π When people first heard my name they asked if it came from that movie but my hoomans had never heard of it before. I guess they were missing out.
Newfie kisses to you both!!
Ayla
Dakota (lab/golden x) loves to dip her stuffies in the water bowl and then carry them around. Charming.
