Hi furry (and not so furry) friends!

Apparently the weather gods heard my plea last week and they sent us some HOT, sunny weather. It was still pretty cool in the mornings so we were still able to take our walks…but in the afternoon it was scorching so mom and dad made me skip a few since it wouldn’t cool off until long after Mack was in bed. Pretty sad for me…but to be honest I was just glad to keep laying on the cool floor in our mudroom. And I did break into the sump pump of our aquaponics system once too so I could cool off. I heard rumors that I might get a kiddie pool if the humans can find one that isn’t inflatable…I hope they start looking in earnest soon! But last night another scary thunderstorm moved in and the rain it brought has cooled everything off. So I’m a happy pup again with 65-75°F weather versus 80+ of last week. I’ll take it!

Remember I was talking about the loss of my BFFE Maya a few weeks ago? Well, it turns out that her mom already has a new dog in the house. Her name is Gina and she’s a 5 month old German Shepherd puppy. I’ve been looking for her all the time and hoping we can glimpse her, but nothing yet. I know it won’t be the same as with Maya…and I’m kinda dreading the evil puppy teeth on the ears game. But it will be nice to have another big dog on the block to roughhouse with.

I did get to see Dexter a few days ago, though. We had a great time together and he’s starting to play a lot more dog-like with me (versus his puppy play). I wish mom had taken her camera with her because we were having a good time playing in the wheat fields, jumping around like rabbits. Good thing the farmers didn’t see us or we would have been in big trouble! I don’t think we messed anything up, though. And speaking of rabbits, Dexter actually found one and tried to catch it for dinner…but the rabbit was just too fast. I participated in the chase a bit myself…but I have to admit that I’m just not fast enough to catch them. So after I run about 100 meters, I’ve had enough and usually turn back around and hope that next time the rabbit will be distracted until I can approach. I really only want to play with them anyway.

Well, my paws are getting tired from all the typing and I have to admit that I could really use another nap…so I hope you have a pawsome rest of the week and I’ll bark at you soon!

Newfie kisses,

Ayla
