Hi!
What a day I’ve had so far. This morning I ran into my friend, Dexter, and we got to go on a nice long walk together. He’s getting better about not chewing on my ears and I only had to tell him to back off once. In fact, we actually had a really good time playing today. Afterward, mom left me at home alone, which was ok since I was pretty tired…but I sure was glad to see her when she got back a couple hours later. She hadn’t fed me breakfast yet and I was getting worried!
Since it’s spring here, and we get a lot of rain in the spring, the fields have been kinda wet when we go out for walks. Mom usually prefers I stay out of the fields but she threw the ball for me the other day and I came back with a mound of dirt on my nose.
How exactly did this happen, you ask? Well, when I went for the ball, I kinda nose-planted in the soft fields where the wheat was sprouting (don’t tell the farmers, ‘kay?) Or maybe you’d like to think that an ant came along while I was sleeping and starting building a hill on my nose? It would be a pretty nice single-family ant condo — although I guess a bit more like a house boat or RV than a real condo.
Anyway, you know I love sharing photos with you (as long as I’m not in them), so I thought I’d share some pictures of the sheep that live near us. They had babies recently and they’re really cute.
One of my favorite moments of my daily walks is when we reach their field. The field sits at the top of a slope and the sheep never notice me at the bottom. So I go racing up the hill to the fence and scare them all away. It’s awesome. Even the babies go running as far away as possible. So far there has only been one sheep that wasn’t intimidated by me…and I think it was either an old sheep or maybe a ram. It didn’t have any horns though…but it did make the strangest, most guttural “baaah” that any of us have ever heard. More like a long burp than anything.
Some people have said I look a bit like the black sheep we have around here…but I really don’t see it. Maybe something to do with the fur? What do you think?
No resemblance, right? I never have nearly that many twigs in my fur either…well, almost never.
Mackenzie, on the other hand, thinks the babies look like our cats. I can see where she’s going with that. Maybe we can even convince mom and dad that they ARE cats and we need to bring one home. Then I could play with it all day long!
Until next time, keep your paws cool and your tail wagging!
Kisses,
Ayla
