Hello my dear furry friends!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and got lots of fun and yummy treats from your family this year! Or were you a bad dog who only ended up with a lump of coal under the tree? To tell you the truth, I would be just as excited about the coal as a “real” present because I love eating charcoal. But that’s another story!

I was apparently the best puppy of the year because I got LOTS of presents this year. I was actually a bit surprised because dad was talking about shipping me off to Abu Dhabi or somewhere like that earlier this year since I was getting to be a bit much for him…but thankfully he let me stay and I have been oh so good since then!

Not only did I get a bunch of yummy treats during the days leading up to Christmas from mom’s advent calendar (she has a huge one with space for treats for me, Mack and dad) but I also got presents in the mail from the Christkind who delivers presents here in Germany. Go me!!

I was a bit overwhelmed when it came time to unwrap everything so I let my Oma help me. Would you look at the size of that bone? Yum!

Mom and dad bought me  a new stuffed gorilla which I promptly removed the belly squeaker from. I’m telling you that the noise he was making was not the sign of a healthy gorilla—it was more like a duck quacking! He’s doing much better now after the operation and I haven’t had to follow up with a paw removal or anything!

But one of the greatest gifts I got this year is a new trick that Mackenzie learned. She absolutely loves playing with my boxes of dog treats. They make a cool rattling noise when you shake them and I’m always excited when I hear that noise so I can understand her interest. But what is really awesome is that she will now feed me those treats when mom and dad give the okay. And I’m not talking like one or two after I stand on my head and howl at the moon. I’m talking treat after treat after treat just because I’m such a cool big puppy who takes them so gently from her hand.

Naturally I have to be very careful since I take most of her hand into my mouth when I take the treats. She holds on to them pretty well so I have to really finesse them away. Now if only mom and dad would let me take the food from her at the table this way. I mean she already throws some stuff down on the floor for me which is nice…but I would gladly take it from her hands too! 🙂

Hope you have a great start into 2010 and I can’t wait to bark at you in the new year. Stay safe from all those evil fireworks and keep your ears covered. They started setting them off in my neighborhood last night and I was completely beside myself. Thank goodness mom and dad were there to comfort me.

Lots of sloppy Newfie kisses to you!

Ayla
