Hello. My name is Tiffany…and I am a victim of clutter. ๐
I’m fairly certain I’ve addressed this issue before, but it needs to be said again. And again. I must continue to remind myself that there really is a problem or nothing will ever be done about it.
I talked about the FlyLady program back in October. And I’ve been pretty good about keeping my sink clean – one of the first steps of the program. But finding a routine with a baby at home is no easy task…and I’m only now really starting to get things under control again – 7 months after her birth!
Anyway, I was reading one of their 50 daily emails (no it’s not really that many but it sometimes seems that way) and noticed that their focus area for the week is the kitchen. Take 15 minutes from your day and work on one little thing. Yesterday was to clean your kitchen counters, not just around the appliances and other junk on top of them but to move everything off as you go and clean under stuff too. Today’s project was to clean out your Tupperware cabinet – which every housewife has and fears looking into.
So this morning while Mack was taking a nap (we’re back to 1 hour naps every 3 hours although I was thoroughly enjoying her 2-3 hour naps she was taking last week because of the heat), I scrubbed our kitchen counters and cleaned out the Tupperware cabinet. I made sure all the containers had lids, that there weren’t a bunch of tiny useless containters wandering around and organized everything really nicely so lids & containers are close together. I also pulled out a few things that didn’t need to be in there and there is actually SPACE in the cabinet now. I know it’s crazy but I actually have a sense of accomplishment just from this little task – so now I have to go see what 15 minute tasks awaits in the kitchen tomorrow. Since Stefan will be home late due to the town hall meeting, I might even get a jump start on things. Maybe I’ll even manage to keep up with the program for more than 2 days this time around! We desperately need to get rid of some of the chaos in this house. eBay will be loaded with our excess junk very soon…
