On Saturday, Ayla finally got to meet the rest of hubby’s family. One of his aunt’s had a party for her 60th and thankfully we were able to take Ayla along to the restaurant. We were a bit concerned (as usual) that she would be totally crazy or show her worst side since she’d been a bit wild at the in-laws house during the morning. In fact, hubby was so irritated with her he told her she was going to end up back at the breeders very, very soon if she didn’t shape up. lol

To our very pleasant surprise (although I guess we probably should have expected it since she’s usually so good around crowds and knows just when she needs to behave herself), Ayla was great all night. Everyone came over to say hello when they arrived (around 30 people total at the party) and she laid on the floor, chewing a big bone most of the evening. There were a few times when she seemed to want to join the celebration but even when we were loud, she still managed to find some time to sleep. She never once barked or whimpered or anything else and was just a shining example of what all our hard work has accomplished (or so she lets up think lol).

This morning she back to her same old self, though. Who wants to be perfect at home, after all? We had a walk delay already…didn’t even get half way down the street and she was acting like a maniac so I turned around and brought her home. It could have had something to do with the cats getting her all worked up…they were both sitting on the stairs while Ayla sat behind the baby gate whimpering at them. Mary even took a few swats at her which really got Ayla going. But apparently Ayla is just as tired after all the weekend excitement as I am because after we got home from the failed walk attempt, she went outside and has been laying on the patio for 30 minutes now. I guess we’ll see if we “need” the walk later or not. “Crazy dog” is all I can say about that lol. It’s a good thing she’s not hard headed or stubborn in the least 😉
