Yesterday, Stefan went and faced the folks at the Standesamt so Mackenzie is now officially a German citizen. We’ll be getting about 10 copies of birth certificates in the mail, all slightly different for the various offices where we need to register her (insurance, more government offices, the US embassy). They actually offered mail everything to us versus us having to go pick them up which they usually require…not sure if they fear we’ll cause trouble if we have to go back in there or what. But ever since we said we would take a third name for Mackenzie (Skye Anne), they totally changed their tune.
Stefan said the whole process took about 5 minutes which has to be the shortest amount of time we’ve ever spent in one of these places. Now, we just need to wait for them to get here so we can make an appointment with the embassy…and hopefully not encounter any issues there either.
Congratulations! Sorry it’s coming late, I missed out on reading blogs over Thanksgiving and then traveling back from the US to Germany. Thanks for sharing your hypno-birthing experience, I noticed comments were closed on that post, would it be okay if I link to it from my parenting blog http://www.mamasworldwide.com?
Hi Christina,
Thanks so much. She is still a little angel here and we’re enjoying getting to know her and finding a routine. Wish hubby could be working from home all the time…it’s so much nicer!
You’re more than welcome to link to the hypnobabies post. Don’t know why the comments were closed but I changed that as well. Some sort of hiccup in the blogosphere 🙂
Hope all is well now that you’re back in Germany…and that you’re not getting too much snow or yucky weather…
