Well, Mackenzie has been home with us for 2.5 days now and we’re slowly starting to get the hang of things. We actually took her out for a short shopping excursion on Saturday which went really well. The first stop was to get a replacement baby monitor since the one I bought on eBay turned out to have some issues (more on that later). I wore Mack into the store in the Baby Bjorn and have to say I was really pleased with that decision. Taking a stroller into a packed store is just not my idea of fun…and she’s so small right now that we’d be crazy not to take advantage of being able to “wear” her as much as possible.
Then we stopped in at a baby store (we’re getting to know them all of course) to get a little bath tub, a couple sweaters to layer on her and a few other small things. That stop we just took her in while still inside her car seat since they had big shopping carts and we could just push her around.
She loved riding in the car and was very calm through it all…as she’s been with everything so far. Started getting a bit hungry and grumpy at the end but thankfully we were already wrapping things up anyway.
Naturally, everything takes a bit longer with a baby…but we already when through that conditioning when we first got Ayla. We took her all over the place with us because if we left her at home, we weren’t sure what we would come back to. Plus she just seemed to enjoy it. Now we take her less, but all the prepping that goes into taking a dog along is similar to taking a baby…she just needs a lot more clothing since it’s cold out. So far I think we’re all adjusting very well…now we just have to keep ourselves from over-doing it 🙂
You are a super mom to already be taking her out in that frigid cold! WOw!
