We’ve only got a few weeks left until Mackenzie arrives so putting her furniture together finally seemed like the right thing to do. Stefan did assure me that Warren Buffet let his kids sleep in a drawer of his dresser until they outgrew it and I assume they turned out fine. I am certain we would have found some place for her to park her little butt, even if the cats didn’t approve right off the bat.
Anyone who’s thumbed through an IKEA catalog or been in one of their stores lately will notice most of the stuff featured in these photos. On Saturday we had a temporary loss of sanity and went to IKEA. It was the first real day that Stefan was feeling human again and we wanted to get accessories to girly up the place. I almost managed to get out of there without starting to have shopping zombie overload and attacking a woman with a carpet. But I assure you no one was harmed. But at least it was all worth it.
The complete Leksvik changing table with topper. We have a little shelf to hang on the wall here so the mouse bath towel is holding its place for now.
When we saw this elephant in the store, we just had to have it. Ayla was pretty bummed out that she couldn’t have it when she saw us bring it inside…but so far she’s kept away from it. The pink things with the bubbles are another set of sheets…we have three so far. Lots of pink of course.
This crib is pretty cool. The height of the mattress adjusts down one level when Mackenzie gets big enough to pull herself up. And when she’s ready, we can also convert this into a small bed by taking off one side. Pretty smart…as long as we can keep track of all the pieces π
This is Mackenzie’s first cow…but not her first thing with cows on it. I have always liked cows, especially black & white ones. Don’t ask – I think it’s something about those sweet faces of there. And they taste fantastic. There’s also a peak at another set of Mack’s new sheets.
We still need something over her bed area although I have no idea what. But it’s just an empty white wall right now and that won’t do. We’ve also considered painting one of the walls but we don’t know what color or which one…so we’ll just focus on getting the rest of the junk moved out of the room for now…
A very nice and cosy nursery! I’m sure Mackenzie will love her first cow π
All the best for the upcoming birth and the first weeks as a family – and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me! Your five-months-ahead-baby-tamer Anna
Very cute nursery! We got our daughter’s furniture from Baby’s Dream. Her crib goes from a crib with 3 different mattress heights, to a toddler/daybed, to a full size headboard/footboard (we will have to buy a mattress & boxspings). I like the idea that I don’t have to buy a new bed for her at every stage.
I love multi-function furniture. Even her dresser doubles as a changing table & with the hutch is also a bookshelf.
Good luck with the new little one. Sounds like she will almost be a Christmas baby. π
I forgot…about what to put on her wall…get some wooden letters from the craft store (to spell out her name) & paint them colors that will match the decor. Glue ribbon to the back of them (to create a “hanger” tied into a bow) hang at different heights & VIOLA! Instant personalized art!
We did it for our baby. It’s adorable & she learned to recognize the letters in her name from the time she was really young!
I love all this multi-step functional furniture too! It’s just so nice to know that they can use if for several years until they have really grown a bit instead of just a year or so. Makes you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth at least!
Love the idea about the wooden letters. Will have to see if I can locate some of those. I would give anything to have a craft store like Michael’s here in Germany…but there are a few places that have gotten closer. Worst case I’ll just have to get her daddy to make some letters…but then we’ll probably just send up with “Mack” on the wall…”Mackenzie” would be a whole lot of work lol
Is that true about Warren Buffet? We joke all the time that if we had a baby right now, we’d have to use a drawer instead of a crib in our teeny tiny space. Looks great and I love cows too!
