Some days I would love to be more like Martha Stewart. She has this knack to make things look so great without really seeming to try. Of course she also apparently has no business ethics or regard for the law but that’s a whole other story…

As the days are getting cooler and shorter, I generally look forward to decorating the house for fall. I think I like decorating in the fall more than in spring or summer since there just seem to be so many more options available. This year I’ve taken a slightly different approach because we have so many pretty trees and things growing around here – so I’ve been trying to implement a few branches here and there where I can. But they don’t last very long inside unless you’ve got them in a floral block and water them from time to time.

I’ve bought many of the little pumpkins and corns. I was tempted to borrow them from our local farmers, but I think they would have been most unhappy with me if they heard I was going to take something from them. Next year I will grow gourds and pumpkins in our garden to use for decoration…as well as pumpkins for pie and other tasty things. But I’ve got a start on things at least.
