It’s no secret that Etsy is home to thousands and thousands of incredibly talented designers, artists, creatives and really handy folks. Pia Barile is one of those incredible folks, who makes fun and trendy eco-fashion from recycled products. In 2004, Pia began El Topo Jewels where she began creating one-of-a-kind jewelry from ceramic beads.
She specializes in taking items that no longer are being loved and giving them new life. And in 2008, she realized she enjoyed making much more than just jewelry. Hence Pia Barile Accessories was born. Pia loves to recycle textiles and her fashions are not only trendy but practical.
There are so many amazing creations in both her jewelry and accessories Etsy shops that you won’t even know where to start. And I just love that she uses so many vintage and otherwise unwanted items to create something so beautiful.
So many of her items are fun and creative, while maintaining an earthy feel to them. I’m pretty sure Mackenzie would steal this ring from me if I brought it home…or anything from her collection of frog rings!
I have a pair of her arm warmers from recycled wool and I absolutely love them. They are so great for those many fall days here in Germany when the weather is cooler. I really appreciate the fact that they leave my hands free to hold dog leaches, push strollers and carry bags while still keeping my hands extremely warm.
My pair of recycled mitts features totally cool oversized buttons and soft grey wool fabric. They are wonderfully simple and so fashionable — although I sometimes wonder if I’m the best person to pull off trendy. But they literally go with anything, whether you are dressing up or dressing down.
And if you’re the more colorful type, you’re going to love her fashions as well.
Pia is an expat, much like myself, but she’s actually from Italy and living in The Netherlands with her husband, son and lovable house cat. She has been actively creating, participating in shows and giving classes about recycled eco-fashion for the past 7 years.
You will find all sorts of fun jewelry, arm and wrist warmers, scarves, mitts, leg warmers and more right now in her Etsy shop to keep you warm as the weather turns colder. I personally can’t wait to get my hands on a pair of these awesome spats!
You can win your very own pair of recycled wool arm warmers by Pia Barile during the Refueling Power Moms giveaway (starting October 6th) right here on No Ordinary Homestead.
