With summer days quickly approaching, there is no better time than now for moms to start thinking about how they are going to prepare themselves for those LONG summer days when both you and the kids start getting restless because there just don’t seem to be enough options to keep everyone entertained. But when you do finally get those much needed moments alone, be sure to make the most of them and maximize your downtime. You might even be interested in trying out something a little different. Leisure time can be surprisingly rewarding, in many more ways than one!

  1. Sunsets with a Difference
Nothing spells relaxation better than a relaxing stroll along the beachfront. After a hard day’s work, very little compares to the cool ocean breeze brushing against your face, and the soft squishy sand beneath your feet. If you don’t have a beach at your door, take a stroll through a local park or other space where you can let yourself absorb the quiet and nature around you. Take a few deep breaths and just let those toxic thoughts be purged. You could also bring along a picnic lunch for a super romantic sunset experience.

  1. A Spa Retreat
If the truth be told, Swedish massage, aromatherapy and reflexology are always welcome ways to enjoy some downtime. This is especially true in summer as the heat starts to take its toll. Don’t put off pampering yourself any longer and go get a quality massage. While you’re at it, stop at the nail salon too and get a mani/pedi too.
  1. A High Stylin’ Girls Night Out
Girls will be girls, so that’s why a girls night out is always a good option. If you’re looking to spice things up during a girls night out, why not consider going totally over the top? For example, get the ladies to pool their money and take a limousine to a trendy new nightclub. The chauffeur service will turn heads, allow you to party like a rock star (without having to worry about driving home) and be a memorable experience that you talk about for years to come.
  1. Escape Into Your Computer
Sometimes you can’t free yourself from the house, so hiding away on the couch at night with a glass of wine will have to do. But I’m not talking about hanging out on Facebook and getting caught up in the latest gossip, but rather finding a way to totally escape and have fun. Find a fun gaming site to enjoy, watch some funny videos or read a few great blogs.
  1. Sushi at a Japanese Restaurant
Sushi may not be for everyone, but it’s still wildly popular. Sure you can pick up some quality sushi at the local supermarket and bring it home. But nothing beats an authentic Japanese restaurant for some delectable sushi and a nice ambiance. This is one low fat, irresistibly tasty treat that everyone will enjoy. Remember to have some Saki or a Japanese beer, too!
