Stefan had the pleasure of visiting the customs office today. Somehow he managed to get the customs agent to have mercy on him and he let him leave without paying anything. Stefan was doing his best to play dumb – it apparently worked.

One of the magical packages that arrived today from my mom was a care package with our US food “essentials:” Louisiana Hot Sauce, Fritos (to go in our chili), Jif crunchy peanut butter, Bold & Spicy A1 sauce. We also have a few special requests in there: pumpkin pie filling, heavy duty aluminum foil & plastic wrap (the stuff here just isn’t the same), vanilla extract and a few other baking & canning supplies. Plus some stuff that we apparently just need to try. ๐Ÿ™‚

When we opened this box today, we had to wonder why we haven’t been getting boxes like this shipped to us more often. Yes, the shipping does cost a fortune…but I could be having my mom just charge everything to us, sending us the receipt (so we don’t have to come up with new excuses for the customs guy each time) and we’d only need to do it about once a year because most of this stuff will last us that long. Well, not the Fritos but we could figure out timing and quantities later on. ๐Ÿ™‚
